Lancome Destiny Cube 2007

Several people have contacted me asking if I have the Lancome Destiny Cube so I’ve moved it along a little in the queue to have a proper look.

Annoyingly, I don’t have the box for this, just this rather dusty bag that gathers bits if you even breathe near it.

Remember there was a time when Magic 8 Balls were so popular? The Destiny Cube took advantage of that craze but gave it a more sophisticated spin of paying homage to 18th century Chinese secret boxes. If you dared to roll this, your options of the ‘mood’ of the day are mystery, jealousy, a star, an angel, flirting and of course, the Lancome rose, whatever that might mean to you.

There were two colour-ways, with each one containing two eye shadows and two lip colours. Guess who was Lancome’s creative director at the time – Gucci Westman, who now has her own cosmetic line of course.

I have ‘Charisma’ but the ‘Deep Fascination’ option was green and pink eye shadows with a red and burgundy lip option). This was part of a small collection called Mystery Game. I can’t find a UK price for this but in the US it was $50 – there are quite a few knocking about on eBay with prices starting at about £15. Funny how some cosmetic items gain no value at all and yet others command a lot of money.
