[unpaid/sample] I don’t know about you, but I’m suffering a bit from ‘new skin care’ fatigue. I mean, there is just so MUCH. However, Syrene immediately caught my attention as a grown up counter to the myriad of millennial targeted launches.
Hailing from New Zealand, and founded in 2016, Syrene uses both botanical and sea-sourced ingredients to make precise formulas and luxurious textures that feel more special than most. Easily, and especially in this heat, my favourite product is Aqualight Moisture Gel Lotion that’s initially cool on the skin and settles to a light feeling hydration veil that will take away any tautness. I still have the Aqua Hydrating Mask to try – and tonight is probably a good time to do it as I have an outdoor yoga session booked and sweat is a moisture sapper.
New Zealand, in particular, has locked down ‘wellness’ skin care really well – even the packaging makes me feel serene! Taking the moisture gel as an ingredient example, key features are marine collagen, seaweed extract, larch tree extract, pohutukawa (in the myrtle family – sometimes known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree and a good source of ellagic acid for skin softening), manuka honey and squalene (fourth on the ingredient listing).
There’s something comforting about the textures – they’re light but reassuringly efficacious (in short term testing) – and while none of it is what we could call ‘budget’, it feels the price point it is, if you see what I mean. I’d recommend the Aqualight Moisture Gel Lotion which is £23 for the 30ml size and £58 for the 100ml. As always, I’d advise going for the least expensive option first HERE, and then decide whether to size up after you’ve trialled it.
