Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Lip balms and glosses are my absolute favourite things – one of the questions I get asked a lot about with lip colours is whether they stay all day and my feeling is, why would you want them to? Half the pleasure is in the application. It’s a different thing when something is offering a 12 hour wear (impossible in my view and also a questionable claim because it’s never clear whether the brands mean a full look after 12 hours or the very last vestiges clinging on which, of course, might be possible).

The formula for the new Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balms is definitely a level up from your average gloss or balm. I feel it’s taken a lot from Asian brands such as Shiseido or Shiro in terms of texture and pigment translucency.

The two shades I have here are Chou Chou (pale pink) and Garconne, both eminently wearable. It’s a very fine blend of oils including jojoba, almond, argan and shea that’s very pillowy in feel. The ingredient list declares carmine but also no animal testing and I can’t work out how that squares up exactly. I mean, I’ve looked but it’s really not clear – there is an exemption list stating which products aren’t vegan but these aren’t on it which I assume will be an error. There are, however, no silicones, mineral oils or parabens. So, the texture is sumptuous and soft as well as being lip softening.

I love both these shades but they are translucent – they’re a hint of colour rather than a power packed, impact lip type of pigment level. They feel every bit as luxurious as they should for £35 – the bullets are weighted so there is a good hand feel and there is attention to detail on the packaging. The Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balms are rather more-ish – suddenly lips feel a bit bare without that nourishing veil. I can’t detect any taste to them which is great because someone, down the line, said, let’s not put mint or vanilla in them which is cause for celebration! If you are inclined to dry lips after wearing colour, these are probably the answer in both prevention and cure. There are six shades to choose from HERE. Non-affiliate HERE.
